What I like the most about the new year is the hope that it gives so many people, particularly this year. We've been in a recession for a while and people (including myself) are tired of it.
Do you notice how everyone seems to be in a better mood ? Just the thought of having a fresh start puts a pep in a person step. I think it's because people really want to believe and hope that this year will be better (and I truly hope so too).
It's very similar to when President Barack Obama was elected. Whether you're Democrat, Republican or independent, we all want the same thing - improvement. Help those without jobs, homes and food. It gave the country hope - exactly what this new year is giving us.
People make resolutions thinking when the clock strikes 12:00 a.m., everything will be different. And we all know the truth is things don't change that quickly. What it can do is give us the energy and momentum to try. Also, a little hope and prayer won't hurt.
